I AM A LESBIAN IN THE ARMY

I remember when I first came out to my mother . She told me that she supports me, but it's a very hard life to live. I told her, "I Know". What I didnt know was how hard it was going to be a lesbian in the army. I joined in feburary. I went to MEPS, took the test, and filled out a bunch of paperwork. However, as I was filling out the paperwork i noticed that almost half of it was on the "don't ask don't tell" policy. I was like, "ok, I guess I have to be really careful that they don't find out." Today, i have been 7 months in the army. All my friends that were with me from the beginning know Im gay, and that's a total of like 20. Do they mind? No, because they know that my sexuality does not determine the type of person I am. Supposedly on Oct. 13, they are getting rid of the "don't ask don't tell" policy. It doesn't change the fact, however, that i'm lonely. Everyone here has a boyfriend who most see  them everyday. Even my friend, who is also gay, has a gf back at home. It's very hard to be single, to need someone to love you and support you yet you can't do anything because your afraid if you come out to someone you like, they'll be straight and tell on you. I signed up for 4 years active army, 2 of them will be spent in korea. Ive tried countless of websights to find someone I can meet and have some sort of relationship, even if its long distant. That way when i get home we know each other well and it'll be easier to be together. So far no luck. I dn't mind waiting, but still, it would be nice to have a gf to support you. My ex won't get back together with me because I am in the army. I AM A LESBIAN IN THE ARMY and all I ask is for someone to be there for me and support my decision.
